Neck and Shoulder Pain
I have been suffering from neck and shoulder pain for about two years now. I have tried various
treatment methods including acupuncture, chiropractic, exercise, nutrition and steroid shots with some measure of relief.
My wife and I were on a trip to Las Vegas, while traveling we decide to explore Route 66 along the way.
We spent the night in Tucumcari NM at the Blue Swallow Hotel.
The next morning we we headed west and decided to stop and visit Winslow AR so we could experience the feeling of “Standing on The Corner” as in the song. After we left Winslow we encountered a thunder storm which cause a heavy down pour of rain. I hit a large puddle that had accumulated in one of the ruts on the highway and started to hydroplane, almost flipping the vehicle. I was able to gain control after sliding to the right and then to the left, almost spinning completely around. Fortunately I didn’t hit another vehicle and was able to bring it under control but had caused a strain in my left shoulder and neck causing me to suffer with this pain throughout the remainder of our trip.
Treatment for Neck and Shoulder Pain
I started seeking treatment after we returned and tried the Chiropractor first, he made some adjustments and suggested I do a complete metabolic workup to see if I had excess toxins and, or nutritional deficiencies. We discovered that I had many toxins and started a cleansing routine using food based supplements. This along with diet and exercise started to relieve some of the pain but it was still present.
I then added acupuncture to the treatment process and this seemed to help a little but the relief didn’t last more then four days, so after twenty treatments I was still in pain. I have used ointments, creams, heat and cold, stretching exercises and even NSAIDs.

I have been working on a pergola for my patio in preparation for an outdoor kitchen. This weekend I installed the roof and shingles, while doing so I discovered muscles I didn’t know I had. The muscles in my legs, arms sides and back started cramping possibly from dehydration although I took many breaks and drank a lot of water.
One other thing I discovered was that my left shoulder and the left side of my neck got worst. So I got to thinking that possibly I had torn a rotator cuff, the pain has persisted for three days so, today I made an appointment with The orthopedic specialist to get it checked out. I will update the results as soon as I get more information. My take on this is there are many treatment options available so if you are suffering from neck and shoulder pains don’t give up until you have exhausted all avenues of treatment.
